Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Candles

What makes beeswax candles different?

Beeswax is naturally purifying, burns cleaner than paraffin or soy, and gives off a subtle honey scent without any added fragrance. It's also the only wax that produces negative ions when burned, which can help purify the air. Plus, it's a renewable resource that doesn't require harsh chemicals to process.

Are your candles scented?

Not artificially. Our candles carry the natural, subtle honey aroma of pure beeswax. No synthetic fragrances, no essential oils added. Just the way the bees made it.

What is upcycled organic beeswax?

Our beeswax comes from Eco Lips, a natural lip balm company that sources certified organic beeswax. Sometimes batches don't meet the strict specifications for personal care use, even though the wax is still high quality. Instead of that wax going to waste, we use it for candles. It's sustainable, circular, and gives perfectly good beeswax a second life.

Why do the colors vary between candles?

Because beeswax is a natural material, each batch can vary slightly in tone depending on what the bees were pollinating. We embrace these variations as part of the beauty of working with organic materials. No two candles are exactly alike, and that's the point.

Can I actually burn these or are they just decorative?

Burn them. That's what they're made for. But we get it - some are so pretty you might want to just display them. Either way works.

Do the candles smell like honey when they burn?

Yes, but it's subtle. You'll notice a soft, natural honey warmth rather than an overpowering scent. If you're used to heavily scented candles, beeswax might feel understated at first. That's intentional.

Candle Care & Burning

How do I properly burn my beeswax candle?

First burn is key. Let the wax melt all the way to the edges (this takes 2-3 hours for most of our candles). This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle. Always trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting, and don't burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

Why do I need to trim the wick?

A trimmed wick = a cleaner, brighter burn with less smoke. If your wick gets too long, it can create a larger flame, excess smoke, or soot. Just snip it with scissors or nail clippers before each burn.

My candle has a white film or "bloom" on it. Is that normal?

Totally normal. That's called bloom, and it's a natural characteristic of pure beeswax. It doesn't affect the candle's quality or burn. If you don't like the look, just gently buff it with a soft cloth. Some people love the bloom - it's proof your candle is the real deal.

Can I use these candles outdoors?

Sure, just protect them from wind and rain. Beeswax burns well in most conditions, but like any candle, a strong breeze will mess with the flame.

What do I do with leftover wax?

Beeswax is precious. You can remelt small bits to make new candles, use it as a natural wood polish, or repurpose it for DIY projects. Just don't toss it - beeswax is too valuable to waste.

Sustainability & Materials

Are your candles eco-friendly?

Yes. We use upcycled organic beeswax, lead-free cotton wicks, and minimal packaging. Our candles are biodegradable, non-toxic, and support sustainable beekeeping practices.

What about the packaging?

We keep it simple and recyclable. Our goal is to protect your candle in transit without creating unnecessary waste.

Are your candles vegan?

No. Beeswax is a byproduct of honey production, so it's vegetarian but not vegan. If you're looking for plant-based candles, beeswax isn't the right fit.

Do you test on animals?

There's nothing to test. Our candles are pure beeswax and cotton wick. No animals (other than the bees doing their thing) are involved in the process.
